Great advice. My youngest started at age 12 on the guitar. I hired a guy to teach him chords and some beginner songs. (He could already read music, honor band etc, on clarinet).

He’s now 20 and I bought him a nice Martin for Christmas.

I started guitar lessons at 12 and became quite proficient by the time I was 20. I came into a small inheritance and could choose between a trip to Israel (they didn’t have Birthright at that time) or a Martin. I already had a Gibson acoustic.

I chose the trip to Israel, and it changed my life.
