She’s doing this for the voters who support these concepts, a large number of whom vote Democratic and care passionately about these issues. And those voters do matter. Not just to her but to the party as a whole.

Exactly. Keeping the Democratic party together for a presidential election is an exercise in careful cat-herding.

One of Sanders’ biggest disqualifications was the near-certainty that he’d be incapable of doing what it takes to keep the party (mostly) together.
