Really, you could not possibly have given me a better illustration of your mindset: in your head all liberals are evil and manipulative, and therefore anyone trying to tell other people on the left “lgf is us” MUST mean “hey! they’re evil too!”

I’m a progressive. Telling other people on the left that they should read LGF because ‘they are us’ is a compliment, not a slur.

Nice to see how much you hate the other side though—and hate having other opinions here.

I’ve been watching this smackdown tonight and will have to agree with Ice. Not because we think alike (I am sure there are some issues on which we would vehemently disagree) but because she has called Pink Freud out (great nic, by the way) on a fundamental accusation of bullying. I think she has a point.

If you disagree with another poster’s *position on a specific issue*, by all means refute it with whatever viable facts you can muster. But if you are attacking them gratuitously, just because they’re philosophy is “on the other side”, then you have violated the spirit of this board. There are idiotarians on every side of every issue. Make your case honestly and without cherry picking. We should encourage *more* respectful conversation, not piling on to folks with well thought out arguments that disagree with the majority opinion of the board.

That being said, the minority members of this community, myself included, need to keep ourselves in check. We do ourselves no favors by twisting off when we receive gratuitous attacks. I did that a while back and when I read my posts the next morning, was mortified. I immediately apologized to the affected party and received a positive response.
