My meaning is getting lost. “Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.” We call to all of Israel, the people. WE are Israel. We are part of the land which is Israel. It is one thing, the land and its people.

You asked what Israel means. That’s what it means.

Are you saying that someone who doesn’t believe in the religious part cannot “get” what it means to be an Israeli?
