Yes, that’s another thing that is discounted. FDR had a perfect storm of circumstance for him. Not to mention that the Republican Party brand was crap in the country after the Crash.

The Republican brand could have survived just the crash. What it didn’t survive was three solid years of the Hoover Administration and the Republicans doing diddly-squat about the Great Depression.
