One of my wingnut cousins once told me that he was as capitalist as they come, but he did believe in a level playing field. This was when we were discussing the shutdown of AT&T trying to gobble up T-Mobile (I think) a few years ago. If they had, they would’ve had a stranglehold on the cellphone provider industry.

I have what you might call a Platoian view of capitalism. Reduced to its very core, capitalism will ultimately lead to oligarchy. Even as a libertarian, I get that for the system to work, there has to be restraints on excesses and unfair business practices.
