I just ordered pizza for iceweasel in New York and was understood first time (used my American accent).

“American accent” covers a lot of territory here. Did you use an NY accent? Or a midwestern non-accent?

When I was a student a study group I was in spent a few days in New York. A few of the locals stopped to make merry over our southern accents, one time.
