I’ve listened to a lot of dumb rednecks call in and argue about Islam because Phil hendrie’s show trolls them into calling. They really can’t articulate any facts about Islam at all, they just talk about Jesus and some incoherent gibberish about how this is a Christian nation and you can’t let “them” win

That’s just it though - there is a primal response, but it’s pretty much entirely manufactured.

How many Americans would have even heard of Park51 without a media intent on creating an emotional issue out of it? Even if a few angry nutjob bloggers had made a stink, the President never would have had to come out and make a statement without the issue being created by an adversarial media intent on manufacturing controversy to pander to the idiotic fears of an audience desperate for anything to feed their prejudices that all Democrats/liberals/foreigners are evil. And now it is a political issue that has many people angry and many others, even on this blog, gleefully expecting that regardless of the justice or morality of the issue, at least the Democrats will look bad, because that’s all that matters.

Good thing the media is so liberal.
