re: #417 Belafon
I hear you: the tsunami of campaign ads - usually each one worse than the last - is one of the least-tolerable aspects of Our Modern Democracy: we don’t watch much real-time broadcast TV, fortunately (thank goodness for the FF button!), but two weeks out from Election Day is peak ad-time.
Funny, though: maybe it’s because the NYC Metro media market is so politically predictable (none of NY, NJ or CT are really “swing states”) , and there are no Senatorial races this year [Ooops, sorry: Cory Booker is running] - so most of the ads have been on the Congressional/State Lege level: i.e., people we’ve never heard of lobbing badly-illustrated insults at other people we’ve never heard of (and NOBODY pushing their partisan affiliation - D or R).
