The primary issue with the extended magazines is wearing them in a holster. The magazine sticks out can gets in the way/snags on things. Balance isn’t as big of an issue since the magazine is contained in the grip. Since your hands are (or at least should be) on the grip, there isn’t any leverage (on a rifle where the points of support are offset from the magazine, this isn’t true).
