My understanding of society is that we’re a bunch of people living together, and that the goal should be to maximize the well-being of the greatest number of people. If God has a problem with that, He can punish America himself; he doesn’t need Dreher’s help.

Rod had been claiming for the last year or so that Western Civilization all went wrong with the Enlightenment.

Now he claims it all went wrong with William of Ockham and the formation of nominalist thinking (look it up if you want. I have no patience for metaphysical bullshit).

In any event, this lays his formation for a decayed America that just isn’t good enough for Real Super Duper Sacramental Benedictine Christians like him.

See, if we were all like Rod, Trump would never happen. It s all so simple.
