Trump’s forthcoming Euro-Tour:
July 6: Poland
Trump is due to deliver a speech in Warsaw and attend a gathering of central European, Baltic state and Balkan leaders. Poland’s ruling rightwing party (PiS) is ecstatic, but other nations fear that Trump’s visit will be an endorsement of a government which has clashed with the EU over its assault on independent democratic institutions, and its refusal to accept migrant quotas agreed to by its predecessor.
July 7 to July 8: Hamburg - G20 meeting.
Trump will meet Putin. Other nations are keen to discuss the Paris climate accord.
July 9 to July 14: Britain????
Or his Scottish golf course???
If he shows up, protestors have vowed to disrupt any appearances.
July 14: France
In Paris for Bastille Day, meeting with President Macron. WTF. A handshake rematch?
French left has said he isn’t welcome; expect protests. France is the EU’s preeminent military power. Will it be cooperation or more wankery?
