I can not recall the book, but I seem to remember a scene where our martian colonists were throwing a big party to watch a rare transit of the earth. What might our atmosphere do for that image?
Anyway some science shows that could really happen. C’mon NASA lets be there for 2200, since we missed 1984.

Clarke did a wonderful short about a dying astronaut on Mars setting himself up to be able to see the “Transit of Earth” before dying. It was written long enough ago that, in all it’s hope, it was set in 1984…
