Something that was notable but unreported about the election this year was that it was the first one in 40 years to not be about the “the 60s”, Vietnam, and related Boomer obsessions.

These right-wingers need to realize that time has marched on while they were locked in a fantasy life that’s basically Dirty Harry and Death Wish movies playing in an infinite loop (with an occasional showing of Red Dawn to break up the monotony).

And it’s only to get more and more distant as time goes on. They really want to live in the same world that allowed Nixon to get elected president. The irony of course is that Nixon would be far too liberal for them now and that they’d probably embrace George C. Wallace because they’d see him as a “true conservative.”
