Short version is that nothing changes when you go back to school; student loan defaults aren’t going to affect you unless you’re the one defaulting - at least not right away.

As the defaults pile up, schools are going to see fewer students attending, particularly in graduate departments - that may lead to further changes.

Public colleges may see additional pressures to cut programs as states try to curtail spending (forcing tuitions even higher).

Tax credits for some student expenses might be cut - you have to check your state taxes too.
