When a homeschooling friend of mine says she didn’t join a homeschooling group because they demanded a signed pledge from the parents that they wouldn’t use the word “evolution” around their children —yes, I believe the Dominionists are out there.

Almost ten years ago now, we had to homeschool our daughter for a while. There were several homeschooling groups around, but we wound up joining none of them as they were almost all of that flavor. Evolution, history, and a number of “soft” sciences were severely constrained. Oh, and there were works of literature that were forbidden - no SF and with certain exceptions no fantasy as an example.

Some of them had informal rules about what could be taught by gender. “Oh, we don’t do algebra for the girls till later. They’re not going to need it,” was one that sticks to my mind even now.

Yes, the dominionists are there and while they are not as bad as their middle eastern equivalents at this time it is not from lack of desire.
