I have a bit of insight into this. One of my friends on FB was saying that he was okay with background checks on ALL sales, provided they were instant and took no more than half an hour, and no retention of records, because he’s a law abiding gun owner and shouldn’t have to put up with limitations.

So I pointed out that the guy in LV who killed 58 people was a law abiding gun owner, and the guy in El Paso who killed 22 people was a law abiding gun owner, and the guy in Dayton who killed 9 people was a law abiding gun owner, and that what he’s actually saying is that he believes all those deaths and more besides are a fair trade so that he’s not inconvenienced when he wants to buy a gun.

Response? *crickets*

They’re not interested in solutions. Maybe he’d have a change of heart if it was his blood on the Liberty tree.
