I think that in the unlikely event that an increase to the minimum wage was passed (let alone to $15 - and mind you, the minimum wage has only gone up three times since I was in high school, all after Obama took office), it would be phased in - probably like it was last time, and the time before that. Like it’s being done in CA and most other places that have voted for it too.

The federal minimum wage is a tricky issue, I think. 29 states have a higher minimum wage than the federal government (though many have tipped wage scales and some are less than a dollar an hour higher than the federal rate). So the question becomes, how do you get people in California or Massachusetts to go along with something that changes nothing for them, while also convincing Alabama and Mississippi (who have no minimum wage) that it won’t turn their local economies into Greece? And that’s before you get into cost of living issues
