You are applying logical precepts to a group of people who have long since abandoned logic in daily life: they liked DT’s fascistoid statements while somehow convincing themselves those were only bargaining positions that he would never really implement, they just liked the fact that a politician dared say them out loud, and went out and voted for him out of a hatred for politicians and “politics as usual”.

For the purposes of this conversation the only relevant thing is that they were *informed* about it. Their inner feelings are neither here, nor there. A fascist apologist need not be a fascist themselves.
