NJ Congressional delegation is pissed at #Sandy aid package getting killed by Boehner and GOP leaders.

Mind you that both NY and NJ governors, plus CT had estimated the damage from Sandy at $87 billion. The Obama request was for $60 billion. So, the House GOP plan would be a third of what the damage tally really is, and they’re claiming that it’s the prudent plan?

They claim that the $60b plan was larded up with pork, and that the $27b was more targeted and focused, but they ignore that one can’t simply build back as things were - it leaves everyone exposed to the same damage for the next inevitable storm. It’s got to be built back better and stronger - more durable. That’s more costly.

If anything, the Katrina experience was lost on the GOP. Again.

Peter King was just on with MSNBC, in all his righteous fury… I laugh at him when he goes on his anti-Muslim rants, but today he made me proud to say he’s from my state. Yelling about how quick the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut delegations were to support Katrina relief, he feels shit upon that the southerners and mid-westerners are being assholes just because they hate our region and want us to suffer, he resents the regionalism he’s hearing in the Congressional cloakroom, and fuck party discipline if this is what they’re going to do to him on Sandy the whip can just go fuck himself next time they need his vote for something and… okay, I may be paraphrasing a bit, but that was really the gist of it.
