The “duck ad cover” drills at school really broke up the day. Sometimes they would march us all into the gym and into the respective boys and girls locker room and crouch down in line against the interior wall. Guess that was safer, or just put everyone closer together for easier counting of ash piles.

By the time my kids were in school, they kept the same “Fire Drill” and “Air Raid Drill” procedures in place, but “Air Raid” became “Tornado”

Now that their kids are in school, “Shelter in Place” drills have been added.
