I still think Beto would make a good VP choice, but they have both him and Castro to choose from to target Texas.
As for Senator, Iâm in for MJ Hegar now.
I still wonder how much of an effect the VP pick has on putting states in play. I honestly canât think of the last time one did. Kaine and Pence were from states that their nominees were probably going to win no matter what. Same with Biden and Palin in 2008. Ryan in 2012 always felt more like a âkeeping the movement conservatives happyâ pick by someone always considered a squish. Maybe Edwards in 2004? Cheney and Lieberman werenât swinging any states in 2000. Otherwise you probably have to go back to like LBJ in 1960.
I suspect that most people vote for the top of the ticket and donât really put much thought into the VP pick.
