On the tax issue, they could make an argument similar to the old Henry Ford line “Make the best quality of goods possible at the lowest cost possible, paying the highest wages possible” and say that reducing taxes is part of the lowest cost possible. And they’d probably also still argue the supply side economics bit about reducing tax burdens allows for an expanding economy which means more tax revenue in the end (though it would see we are on the wrong side of the Laffer curve at this point).
