PS: it is actually quite conventional thinking to have, at the board of directors level, people who don’t know anything specific about the business. they have no preconceived notions, no industry prejudices or baked in thinking, and may be able to make decisions more soberly and objectively.

Objectively? Please.. If they are not experts in the field of the business, their only purpose is to enrich themselves and preserve a system designed to help the wealthy on the backs of the rest of us. They routinely approve higher pay and benefits for the executives so that their companies will approve similar packages for them. The whole system is corrupt to its core.
