Or, the more obvious solution: there are greater and less forms of racism. This is a lesser form. That doesn’t mean it’s not still racism.

Someone casually being racist out of ignorance is still being racist; obviously portraying other races as a caricature is a classical example of ignorant racism. It’s not as bad as someone asserting black people are all moochers who are looking for handouts and free stuff, but it’s still racism.

Nuance is a thing.

A very common use of racism is to display one person of a particular race/nationality/religion/ethnicity and then claim “They’re all like that!” Or to quote a line or an article from some publication that caters to said group and claim “That’s what they all think!”
