re: #376 Ciceroniana

They should be targeted by education, clinics, access to condoms and healthcare. Not by gov’t policies which encourage the birth of fewer children through tax credits or other means. I always hated China’s one child policy, though the regime views it as ecologically necessary. I think this is a slippery slope. Also, would these be “global” tax credits? Little iffy on a global tax code on top of our voluminous one (understatement). Sorry, I’m multi-tasking.

A slippery slope to some is selling guns at gun shows. A slippery slope to others is saying they should be registered. Everybody has their little nightmares.

Around these parts some teenage girls get pregnant because it qualifies them for their own state paid apartment, and if they have a boy and girl they qualify for a three bedroom place after a certain age. Upward mobility of sorts.

We encourage population growth with financial incentives (EG tax), but disincentives are dismissed as a “slippery slope”?/

Yes, we can all imagine worst case scenarios, but you are one who would rather see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil. Monkey stuff.
