Iām an EU citizen. Iām coming to the US tomorrow. We route through Washington and then on to San Francisco. Iām coming because the university I work for is paying for me. My wife is coming - we mix with the same people, itās a networking/āAre you mad, of course Iām coming to San Franciscoā trip. Iām mixed race and have been gently trying to get us to cancel, but Iām not out of pocket for my ticket, we are for ours.
I would happily be one of the ātouristā boycotters to stop coming. Iāve been to Vietnam this year. Sheās been to Cuba more than once. I donāt have the rights you have. My trip to the US this time has me: leaving my computer; picking a tablet I can wipe as I land; taking an old phone that is pre-wiped. Separating sim-card (in case) from phone (in bag). 2-factor security on my accounts, unlockable with SMS.
That I have even had to think about that to come is utterly disheartening. More so than hearing that I donāt have the right to say no
