This made me laugh. In the comments to a WaPo article about books with bad endings:

Comment:

Ray Bradbury’s “The Nine Billion Names of God,” for example, isn’t a happy ending, but it is the logical outcome of the plot and it is unforgettable.

Response:

Especially the part when the author of the story is revealed to have been Arthur C. Clarke.

The ending was unforgettable. The IT guys riding down the mountain looking at the sky. I first read that story in an anthology of great sci-fi stories. Was probably the best story of the bunch.
