This is why for-profit hospitals really need to come to an end.

Even the non-profit hospitals have absurd billing schemes.

The three times I’ve been in the ER the past few years fortunately my insurance paid the ER costs, but the hospital bill for said visits were huge (for what turned out to be relatively minor treatments.)

This is one of my things about Republicanism that bothers me. For all their “pro-life” talk, they really do not pay attention to the Scriptures that say we should seek justice for the poor, the alien, the fatherless, and the widow. It doesn’t get any clearer than in their approach to health care. If they were truly Christians, they would support a complete revamp of the system that would eliminate all this billing bullshit and provide equitable and affordable health care for all.
