I think the polls at this point come down to one thing:

IT’S THE ECONOMY - STUPID.

It’s always been the economy. People ultimately vote with their pocketbooks. If the economy improves enough by November 2012, or if it becomes even more obvious than normal that the GOP are blocking every attempt to fix things, then Obama might well get a second term. If things get worse and the GOP don’t run a complete raving lunatic, he might well lose.
