What is it with these people and their purity oaths? I honestly don’t know which one is more repulsive, the one here that Norquist is effectively holding party members hostage over, or the religious purity oath that nutjob Bob Vander Plaats of the “Family Leader” had Republican candidates sign during last year’s Presidential primary season?

Republican politicians take ideological purity oaths about as seriously as they take marriage vows.

And unfortunately, so do all of the poor suckers that vote for them: crowing about ‘sanctity of marriage’ with divorce rates at or near 50%, etc. Voting for oaths they are statistically unlikely to actually support in their personal lives.
