When attempts were made to expand the militia beyond the core network of founders, a variety of mechanisms were used to garner recruits, including the introduction of NWO theories and the exploitation of recruits’ sentiments concerning topical issues such as the expansion of gun control, environmental legislation, government promotion of liberal social policies, e.g., Clinton’s health reform initiative, and the changing demography of American society, particularly through ostensibly xenophilic immigration policies.
