Trump still has the press in his thrall, and he is good at creating the impression of wealth and success where none exist. I can imagine he and the GOP Congress will be able pull off some serious economic sleight-of-hand to convince enough gullible people that he job on the economy and will be able to maintain that illusion until at least November of 2020…

So far the polls don’t show the people being fooled. It looks like he got a two point bump for the Syrian missile strike, but he’s still ten points underwater. A democratic presidential candidate without Clinton’s baggage ought to be able to defeat him.
