This talk reminds me of one the guys I went to high school with who ended up in a Pershing II unit. Much more interesting weapon, very accurate and quite a long range for Europe - all of which is why the Soviets hated and feared it. That hill they were on was probably the biggest target in the FRG while those missiles were deployed.

The little Revell plastic model of the Pershing II was a very popular rocket for model rocket competition where you had to convert a plastic model to “fly” powered by the standard model rocket engines.

It was always announced at the event that everyone wanting to view the launches to be on their toes. Getting a plastic model off the launch pad could be scary.

I can still remember a Revell Gemini Space Walker Astronaut chasing people.

Mine was a Gemini Capsule with clear plastic stabilizer fins. Good times.
