Ah uhm, so my brother (picture earlier in this thread) had the police show up at the house after he told a vote canvasser asking for my mother to get off the property. Of course he called me and of course I couldn’t stop laughing. He wasn’t mad at me, he just wanted me to know about it.

I did explain to him that all these in person GOTV activities WORK. They get people to the polls. But it’s making him nuts and I completely understand. I was over there on Saturday and we were trying to watch a Godzilla movie. Holy crap, every 15 minutes, another phone call, recorded this, asking for mom that, etc. It was insane.

I can say this, the Arizona Democratic candidates are ON IT as far as GOTV is concerned, but not everyone cares about this like we do. So you get people like my brother, the registered Republican, who may or may not vote tomorrow, getting progressively more and more annoyed by people calling and showing up asking about our mom, the registered Democrat. I’m thinking there needs to be a reconsideration and maybe a consolidation of efforts, because they are pissing people off. (Oh, and road signs, can we talk about the visual clutter? That’s my pet peeve!)

He called the cops?!?!? As a canvassing volunteer, they have a right to be there even if there’s a no solicitors sign. Some more confident canvassers I know go through with those but I respect the signs even though some canvassers have told me they’ve actually had some nice conversations with no soliciting sign owners.
