re: #438 Cato the Elder

Lost a couple of the hostages in the process, too. Good outcome?

As I said, the pirates and Captain Phillips are in a bloody lifeboat. They are surrounded. Do you want to gun them down and risk the Captain’s life to prove a point?

No, I don’t. I keep remembering the Star Trek film where Spock doesn’t understand why the entire crew would risk their lives to save the one person—him. Then the tables are turned—and he gets it. I’m in the Saving Private Ryan category. I just feel frustrated, frightened for him and very sad. VERY sad. I have a lump in my throat as I am typing and tears are filling my eyes. …and I’m not kidding. AND, I loved the info about Caesar . God. I wish I had read things like that before. Now, I’ll have to read Plutarch. When I began reading Patrick O’Brian’s books, never would I have thought I’d find myself reading all the books I could find on the Napoleanic wars! Thanks!
