There are lots of paradoxes that work like that.

For instance in “The Open Society and Its Enemies” Popper argued that a society can’t survive as a tolerant society while simultaneously be tolerant of people who oppose tolerance.

I’m not going to worry about principles being consistently followed to the nth degree because that’s a kind of fallacious trap. I’ll stick to my actual beliefs.

Congrats, that actually made a small amount of sense. You’re against anyone ‘controlling’ what anyone else says unless they’re doing it to stop someone being ‘controlling’. Fine.

My original question still stands. It’s a question, not a request that you change your behavior. I’m asking you what you get out of acting in this manner. I completely accept there may be some benefit, either to you or society, or what have you. I’m just wondering what you think the benefit of being this abrasive is, why you do it.

Is there some reason for you to avoid that question?
