The Wuhan lockdown will begin at 10am local time (9pm ET). Starting at that time, no people will be allowed to leave Wuhan. Wuhan’s airport and train stations will be shut down, and all public transportation (such as buses, the subway, and ferries) will be halted. By imposing a quarantine on Wuhan (population 11 million), China hopes to help stop the spread of a new virus, the Novel Coronavirus, which has infected over 540 people in China and killed 17.
