re: #350 goddamnedfrank

Really wish he’d stayed out of it or at least worked on the problem quietly without hyping his involvement. Even if his heart was in the right place the whole thing smacked of him trying to turn a human crisis into a publicity stunt by shoehorning his tech bro expertise into the mix. Also his proposed solution just takes an already claustrophobic, panic inducing situation and amps it up to eleven. At least by swimming out the boys can move, see and communicate with their rescuers, being stuck inside that goddamned can would feel like being buried alive.

I’m trying to think of why it was really all that bad that his company worked on it and announced they did. Announcing it didn’t cost anyone anything, and it looks like his team was trying to come up with a quick solution. How many other companies do you actually think were trying to come up with a solution? I’m sure Trump couldn’t be bothered to loan a prayer for the kids.

As for their type of solution, it was definitely a last resort type of solution, but it’s far better to have one more thing to fall back on than “We can’t get the kid out. The cave is filling due to the rains and he won’t stay calm enough to come out with a team.”
