I remember how GLEEFUL a former right-wing regular here was about the prospect of Ryan debating Joe Biden in 2012.

I am not sure I fully appreciated Biden’s political skills before that. Ok, defeating Paul Ryan in a battle of wits was hardly a great feat, but Uncle Joe made it look effortless.

He loved Rubio too. I always saw Rubio as a cynical GOP trying to make their own Obama. The problem is Rubio’s A) nowhere near intelligent as Obama, B) nowhere near as likable, and C) nowhere near as effective, and D) he’s not a leader. They just saw they had a young guy at the time who took advantage of the fact that the GOP base got into a rage because Charlie Crist didn’t despise Obama and rode it into the Senate. It’s my understanding Jeb’s people have some stories about how duplicious a guy Rubio is.
