re: #364 avanti

I’ll meet you half way, if he pushes the plan as suggested, I’ll agree that he’s dead wrong and leave anyway, having lost what little faith I had in politicians. But no one ever suggested vets pay for their own treatment. Trying to suggest that private insurance could or would pay, is silly enough. I opposed a similar plan submitted several times since the Clinton administration, just as I do this one.

Private insurance (Blue Cross, Blue Shield, AIG, Aflac………) cost both employees and employers. When insurance is ‘paid for’ by the company, that is approx $500. per month per full time employ depending on the employee’s age and health record and size of the company. Since I work for a small business with under 50 employees, with health, drug, and dental benefits, 500 per month per employee is just slightly off (it was 489 last time I looked) So take 500/month and multiply it by 25 and the company is paying $12,500 into HEALTH insurance. 12,500/month = $150,000 per year.

thats 150,000 that comes out of the company coffers and not into the employees’ immediate hands.
