Can felons own baseball teams? (asking for a friend.)

I can’t find anything definitive that says can or cannot.

George Steinbrenner (longtime Yankees Owner) though was convicted for illegal political contributions to Richard Nixon during the Watergate period. Baseball suspended him for fifteen months.

He received a felony charge for obstruction of justice.

He was then pardoned by Ronnie Reagan.

I guess some things are to be expected with Republican Presidents and rich supporters.
