There’s that phrasing again: “Asking someone to keep their gun in their car”. That’s NOT what this is about, for the second time. This is about an organization saying to Starbucks “We don’t think you should allow concealed firearms in your stores” and after being repeatedly told “Thank you, but we’ve decided to keep our current policy” has decided to boycott Starbuck for refusing to require law-abiding CCW permit holders to not bring in their weapon. This is not about “asking”, and that needs to be clear.

OK, the protesters are not “asking”, they’re “demanding”, or they’re “demanding that Starbucks demand…”, except that they really are asking because they’re in no position to demand anything of a private corp. So what you’re really upset about is that they’re asking impolitely, in the form of a one-day boycott.

And MY point is that a one-day boycott is nothing to get worked up over. It’s a pretty mild form of democratic protest. It’s hardly the “nastiness” that you described above.
