Even if their call for so-called patriots to come to their aid in Burns is not possible, there are plenty of over-armed wingnuts that might be willing to do the same in their own locations.

The government should not have let the Bunkerville standoff go without arrests. Even my very conservative-leaning wife noted that was a mistake and all it would do would be to embolden them.

Since there seems to be no way out of making them martyrs in their own (and their supporters’) minds, I think the only solution here is to try and capture them alive (cut off electricity and water, &c), and let them rot in prison for the rest of their lives.
