McCain’s statement is silly and typical easy answers miscasting how the ACA was handled.

But, say you’re in his position. You’re aware of your own mortality. And you have some less-than-savory people who you’d like to see knocked down a peg or two.

It would be an extraordinary story to find out months or years later that McCain did this to spite Trump and McConnell… and make a mere pittance of atonement for the errors of his ways. And he did so under the guise of “this bill needs to be improved…” even as the bill died with his actions.

Yeah, its no doubt a fantasy. But it’s a little fun thing to think about as I drift off for the night.
