As BlueGirl wrote above: The “ok” sign by the players is legit in that context. For HS teams in the state of KY, it probably goes back to the 2010-11 University of Kentucky basketball season. Had a couple of very good 3 point shooters, whom every time they made a “3”, would do the three point signal. Many of those times, the circle made between the thumb and index finger, would be placed around the eye, as in a “3 point-dead eye” symbol

Also, the Blackout/Whiteout/Blueout/Grayout student sections are legit. Yes the school colors are Blue and White, but the sports teams there, as do many in HS, have alternate uni’s- All black is a popular alternate uniform choice.

This of course does not give any reason for a student to have blackface on under any circumstance. This is a problem the school must confront and properly address; and not through some Conservative PR firm.
