re: #436 Backwoods_Sleuth
In 2012 the GOP spent two weeks waiting for the caucus results from Iowa.
Caucuses suck, and you’re impeached.
Tradition is the excuse for not doing better. And in November, we are voting your corrupt admin out.— lawhawk (@lawhawk) February 4, 2020
Thing is - caucuses do suck and there are better options.
Tradition is an excuse to do nothing different or better.
Ranked choice voting and eliminating caucuses would be a big improvement.
Consolidating primaries into a 6 week schedule with waves of primaries every 2 weeks would be a help and give states later in the race more of a say - if you balance when the states hold their primaries, you can make states like NJ have more say in who gets nominated. It would diminish the role of NH and IA, which aren’t representative of the nation at large.
You could have IA and NH announce first on primary night, but end this spectacle of going to those states to campaign endlessly for months for fewer delegates combined than NJ has.
