Itr is facinating, the English do not have a single document like the Constitution, which lays out their rights. Instead it is a series of documents & the courts have done very well with that model.

English democracy has been a long slow process, hundreds of years in development. The U.S. grew out of that at a point where it was possible to draft a single document—although we developed lots of other documents as well, we just consider the Constitution to be the core and reference.
