Someone once (I think in the 1980s) described the effect of David Duke appearing on TV or radio. With a large enough audience (say 10M) it doesn’t matter to him if 99.9% of them laugh at him. It’s that 0.1% of new followers that will keep him alive for a few years more that matter to him.
