Well, for once I’d have to say that bland “thoughts and prayers ” generalities are pretty much all that one can really offer at this point: hopefully the casualty list won’t be too extensive - though, unfortunately, it looks like another Fitzgerald scenario in the making.

And speaking of which, WTF is going on with these destroyers? Metric megatons of money spent equipping these top-of-the-line warships with state-of-the-art electronics,, and they still get into collisions with slowpoke tankers and the like? Maybe understandable when naval vessels only had flags to communicate with, but less so in 2017.

This is indeed troubling. There needs to be a serious overhaul of procedures and review of training to determine what is happening here.
